What you need to know

If you haven't already done so, set up SU MCP Gateway first and then come back here to connect GitHub.

  • Screenshots are from ChatGPT, but the prompts, sign-in pages, and confirmation screens look the same in Claude.
  • Connection links expire after 10 minutes. If yours expires, ask the assistant to connect again for a new link.

How to connect GitHub

Ask ChatGPT to connect GitHub. Once connected, it confirms your GitHub username.

GitHub connects, ChatGPT lists your repositories, then creates a sample repository on request. (Select image to enlarge.)

Try these prompts

If you're not sure where to start, try one of these:

  • Get the authenticated user and list repositories for the authenticated user.
  • Create a sample repo and some sample content in that.
  • Summarize the README in my repo sample-python-project.

Tip: New repositories are created as private by default. If you want a public repo, say so in your request.

Get help

If you need assistance, submit a help request for your tool:

Be sure to include:

  • The app you tried to connect (GitHub)
  • What you typed and how the assistant responded
  • A screenshot of any error
