AI Catalyst
AI Catalyst offers Stanford community members a structured pathway to develop customized AI solutions for research, teaching, administrative needs, and more.
Since its launch in 2024, the AI Playground has proven to be fertile ground for exploring new AI tools and integrating them within Stanford systems. Many of our requests have come through the #ai-playground Slack channel. AI Catalyst offers additional structure and consultation to support your specific requests.
We partner with you to:
- Advise on best practices and transparency for AI usage.
- Audit current AI usage, assess needs, and develop a custom strategic plan for AI adoption.
- Set up AI solutions or systems to help faculty, researchers, and students with their specific needs (e.g., analyzing large datasets).
- Build custom AI solutions that leverage UIT enterprise AI offerings.
Features
The AI Catalyst team is supporting several large-scale projects with our campus partners: Financial Management Services, External Relations and Stanford Alumni Association, School of Law, and the Office of Research Administration.
We are currently at project capacity through FY26, but look forward to working with you to:
- Conduct a needs analysis meeting with you and your stakeholders
- Audit existing workflows and technology
- Propose relevant AI strategies/tools
- Develop pilot projects and measure impact
- Support integration, training, and maintenance

Rates
- Consultation rates vary by project requirements. Most projects are billed on a time and materials basis.
