A guide to accessible tweets

Unlike other social media platforms, Twitter does not automatically generate alternative(ALT) text

To add Alt text to your photo:

  1. After uploading your image, click Add Description
  2. Type your Alt text. 
  3. Click Done

Upload .srt file to Twitter video posts

Posting a video to Twitter? Consider adding captions to your video content. Captions create a more inclusive environment. 

To upload a .srt file to a video post (available on the web):

  1. Upload a video to your Tweet.
  2. Select Upload caption file (.srt) below the video.
  3. A pop-up window will appear. Select the Upload Captions button.
  4. Choose the caption file from your computer
  5. Click Done
