How to Approve or Deny Authority

These instructions reflect a new interface and features rolled out to Authority Manager on June 21, 2021. To view a recorded demo on navigating the new interface, visit the Authority Manager Enhancements project page.

Authority Manager sends email notifications when new requests are submitted to copy, edit, or revoke authority and when authority requests are reassigned to new approvers.

Approve a request

  1. From the Authority Manager homepage, click on the My Authority tile or select the My Authority icon on the left menu.

  2. Click the Requests tab.

  3. Click the Actions button to the right of the request you want to approve and select Approve/Deny.

  4. Enter workflow comments, if desired, and click Approve Request.
     

  5. Review the information in the Manage Authority Request pop-up to verify the status reflects Approved. Click Close.

Approve multiple requests at the same time

  1. From the Authority Manager homepage, click on the My Authority tile or select the My Authority icon on the left menu.

  2. Click the Requests tab.

  3. Click the checkboxes to the right of the privileges you want to approve. Click the Approve/Deny button at the top of the page.

  4. Enter workflow comments, if desired, and click Approve Request. Review the information in the Manage Authority Request pop-up and verify the status reflects Approved. 

  5. Click Close.

Edit a request prior to approving 

  1. From the Authority Manager homepage, click on the My Authority tile or select the My Authority icon on the far left.

  2. Click the Requests tab.

  3. Click the Actions button to the right of the request you want to approve and select Edit.

  4. Edit the authority limits as desired and click Save.

  5. Click Approve/Deny

  6. Enter comments, if desired, and click Approve Request.

  7. Review the information in the Manage Authority Request pop-up and verify the status reflects Approved. 

  8. Click Close.

Reassign a request to another approver 

  1. From the Authority Manager homepage, click on the My Authority tile or select the My Authority icon on the far left.

  2. Click the Requests tab.

  3. Click the Actions button to the right of the request you want to reassign and select Change Approver.

  4. Enter a name, SUNetID or email alias in the Select Approver field to select a new approver.

  5. Click Change Approver.

  6. Click Close.

Deny a request

  1. From the Authority Manager homepage, click on the My Authority tile or select the My Authority icon on the far left.

  2. Click the Requests tab.

  3. Click the Actions button to the right of the request you want to deny and select Approve/Deny.

  4. Enter workflow comments, if desired, and click Deny Request

  5. Review the information in the Manage Authority Request pop-up and verify the status reflects Denied. 

  6. Click Close.
