Page Titles

Must haves

  1. Each page title is descriptive and unique.
    1. For example: “Login” and “Profile” are NOT descriptive enough when someone has 20 tabs open. Try “Login | Stanford Admissions”.
    2. Having “Stanford Admissions” as the title for every page on the Admissions site is also NOT descriptive. Update titles to reference the unique page purpose.
  2. Put unique information at the start of the title, i.e., “Login | Stanford Admissions” and “Profile | Stanford Admissions”.

Do and Don't

DoDon't
<title>English 160 Course Evaluation | Department of English, School of Humanities and Sciences</title>

<title>School of Humanities and Sciences</title>

This would only be appropriate on the home page for the school. On any other page it is not descriptive enough.
