How to Access a Device with an Unknown Passcode in Jamf

When a device has an unknown passcode in Jamf, use the following steps to clear the passcode.

  1. Device record > Management > Clear Passcode
  2. The device will display “Passcode Requirement - You must set an iPad unlock passcode within 59 minutes.“
  3. Despite the message saying, “New Passcode - Enter 4 or more characters,” the minimum length is actually 6.
  4. Let the user know that if they previously had Touch ID enabled to unlock the device, they will need to re-enable it (Settings > Touch ID & Passcode).
