These instructions are for the School of Medicine community. As a required first step, you must set up your new Microsoft login using an approved authentication method. Then wait 24 hours, or until prompted, before connecting to Intune.

Introducing Intune

With our updated Microsoft login, we're introducing an extra layer of security called Microsoft Intune.

When you log in to a Stanford Microsoft app like Outlook, Teams, or OneDrive, Intune does a quick check to make sure your device is secure enough to access university data.

If you use a Windows or Android device, Intune also serves as your device management solution, keeping it up-to-date and simplifying how you get IT support.

About 24 hours after you set up your new login, you can connect your devices to Intune. Your next steps to will be based on your device type - see below.

Automatic enrollment

Automatic enrollment happens in the background. The setup will complete on its own the next time you connect to the Stanford network or VPN. Review the automated enrollment guide to prepare for the process.

Guided enrollment

If your device isn't eligible for automatic enrollment, watch for a BigFix popup. When it appears, click to launch the Stanford Intune Migration app, which will guide you through setup. See the guide for what to expect based on your device ownership.

Manual enrollment

You can enroll manually whenever it's convenient. Follow these steps for Stanford-owned or personal devices.

Register your Apple device

If your Mac, iPhone, or iPad is already managed by Jamf, you'll only need to complete a short registration. This connects your device to the new Microsoft login for secure access to apps like Outlook and Teams. Should you run into issues, review the troubleshooting FAQs.
