Effective Nov. 1, 2018, Microsoft Office will no longer be available for personally-owned computers from the Stanford Software Licensing Web Store.
Instead, individuals with an Office 365 account can install Office 365 ProPlus on up to five computers (Windows and Mac), five tablets, and five smartphones at no charge. These devices can be personal or Stanford-owned. You’ll need to connect to the internet at least once every 30 days to verify that your Office 365 license is active. If you don’t connect within 30 days, the Office 365 ProPlus apps go into reduced functionality mode.
For more information, see the Office 365 ProPlus webpage.
Also effective Nov. 1, 2018, Project Professional and Visio Professional will continue to be available to faculty and staff for home use purchase at $14.99 from hup.microsoft.com. See How to Purchase Microsoft Project and Visio for Home Use for instructions.
Before Oct. 31, 2018, if you need a local version of Office without the 30 day check-in requirement, you can still purchase a copy for $9.95 at the Software Licensing Web Store.
