How to Review and Retrieve Emails Quarantined as Spam

To ensure optimal security, Stanford has several automatic filters that review emails for spam, and remove spam from inboxes. Although these filters are highly accurate, it is possible for a legitimate email to be incorrectly marked as spam. Emails that are identified as spam end up “quarantined” and do not appear in your inbox or spam folder. After two weeks, the quarantined emails will be deleted.  If you expect to receive an email but don’t see it in your inbox, first check your spam folder and any mailbox rules you may have created. If you still do not see the email, you can review quarantined emails in the Spam Digest, and submit a Help request to release them to your email inbox if needed.

How it works:

  1. Visit the Spam Digest and log in with your SUNet ID and password.

  2. Click “Quarantine” in the bottom left corner.

  1. Review emails identified as spam by clicking on them to expand the content.

  1. If you find an email that is not spam that you would like to release to your email inbox, submit a Help request. In the short description of the Help request, add “Release message from Spam Quarantine.” In the description section, include the date and time of the email, and the email sender. See an example of the Help request ticket below:
