Inactive Mailing List Communication

To keep the Mailman system efficient, lists that are no longer needed should be retired. University IT will periodically send communications to the owners and administrators of lists that appear to be inactive reminding them to review these lists in the web portal and delete any that are no longer needed by following these steps.

Verifying the authenticity of the communications

If you have questions about the inactive mailing lists email, please submit a Help request. Here are a few points to note to help you verify the authenticity of the communiocation:

  1. The sender will be the Stanford Mailman List Service
  2. The subject line will read: Action Requested: Delete Your Inactive Mailing Lists.
  3. The list or lists that require your attention will appear in the first paragraph of the email.
  4. The email will be signed by the University IT Mail Team.
