How to View Storage Used in a Shared Drive

The enforcement of any storage limit for Google My Drive and shared drives will begin no sooner than March 1, 2025, with billing deferred accordingly. During this extended grace period, drives will remain fully functional and will not switch to “read-only.” We will update web content when a new enforcement date is finalized.

Identify the shared drive(s) that need attention

Starting Sept. 1, 2024, a 500 GB storage limit will be applied to each shared drive.  If needed, your local IT organization can help you identify the shared drives you manage that may be impacted by this change.

How to view the storage used in a shared drive

To find out how much storage is in a shared drive, follow these steps:

  1. Go to drive.google.com.
  2. Click on "Shared drives" and click on a specific shared drive to select it.

  3. Click the information button in the upper right (circle with an "i" in the middle).

  4. Click the "Details" tab.  The storage used will be listed under "Storage used."
