Stanford University Box to Retire February 2023

The information in this article applies to Stanford University Box only. It does not apply to Stanford Medicine Box.

As previously announced, the Stanford University Box service will be retired in February 2023. 

On Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, all Stanford University Box accounts that have already been migrated — along with accounts that have no data — will be deactivated. When that happens, faculty, staff, students, and other authorized users will no longer be able to view, edit, or share Stanford University Box files, links, or folders or restore files in Stanford University Box trash.

To prepare for the departure of Stanford University Box, please consider the following:

• If your migration has been completed, you should no longer be working in Stanford University Box. If you have worked in Stanford University Box after your migration, manually move your data to a new storage location before Jan. 31, 2023, to avoid losing your content.
• Review your websites for hyperlinks to content stored in Stanford University Box and update as appropriate. 
• Going forward, no new Stanford University Box accounts will be created. Google Drive is the preferred file storage and collaboration platform at the university. Microsoft OneDrive is also offered as a storage option.
