PREP: An AI-Powered PDF Remediation Service
The Office of Digital Accessibility has launched a new AI-powered PDF remediation service to help streamline your digital accessibility processes. PREP, a PDF remediation platform, simplifies the process of fixing inaccessible PDF documents, ensuring content is accessible to all. PREP replaced Equidox as the university’s preferred PDF remediation tool.
PREP your documents
PREP, from Continual Engine, is designed for fast, scalable PDF and document accessibility. Once documents are uploaded, the tool automatically tags over 90% of the PDFs within seconds. A tag is hidden code that provides the structure for screen readers to understand the logical order of a page (e.g., identified header, paragraph, image, chart). Complex content types, such as tables and charts, are handled with ease with PREP, and you can quickly review and make edits to tags as needed.
Additional features of PREP include:
- Automated alternative text for images
- Real-time screenreader previews
- Option to test document accessibility standards compliance within the platform
Visit the PREP service homepage to learn more about the platform and explore tips on getting started in the Get Help section.
