If you use a desk phone
Most telephones with a voice mailbox indicate that you have a message waiting with either a stutter dial tone or a light. To check for new voicemail messages, take one of these steps:
- Lift the handset on your telephone. If you hear a stutter dial tone (i.e., beep-beep-beep), you have new messages. If you hear a normal dial tone, you do not have any new messages. You may place and receive calls even when you hear a stutter dial tone.
- Look at your telephone’s message waiting light. If the light is on, you have new messages. If the light is not on, you do not have any new messages.
Note: The stutter dial tone or light turn off automatically after you listen to your new messages. If they persist after you check your voicemail, take one of these steps:
- If you work at Stanford University, submit a Help request or call the Service Desk at 5-HELP (5-4357) or 650-725-4357.
- If you work at Stanford Children’s Health, submit a Help request or call the Service Desk at 5-HELP (5-4357) or 650-725-4357.
- If you work at Stanford Health Care, submit a request for SHC IT Services or call the Service Desk at 4-HELP (4-4357) or 650-724-4357.
