Closing your Microsoft account

Stanford Microsoft accounts are available to faculty, staff, and students with full-service SUNet IDs. Your eligibility for the Microsoft account will end when your SUNet ID account services end. You should download any data you wish to keep.

Data retention

After you depart Stanford University, the data you have stored in Stanford Microsoft email, Teams, and SharePoint is retained as indicated in the table below. 

Note that for email, OneDrive, and Chat conversations that take place within the Teams app, data will will be permanently deleted after the threshold dates and recovery will be impossible.
