Network Engineering
Network Engineering is responsible for operating and maintaining the Stanford University network (SUNet), delivering resilient high-speed connectivity that supports the University’s mission. Key SUNet services encompass both commodity and high-performance research Internet access, Internet2, wired and Wi-Fi connectivity, cloud and VPN services, university firewall protections, and dedicated support for hospital client services.
The team manages and operates a robust Wi-Fi infrastructure tailored for academic and student residence networks, ensuring seamless connectivity throughout the campus.
Beyond these client-centric services, the Network Engineering team oversees a secure and isolated network management infrastructure. This system employs a range of monitoring-focused applications and services to dynamically manage and protect all operations on SUNet.
