Load Balancer

The Load Balancer service provides an extra measure of stability and redundancy for University applications, systems and servers residing behind either Departmental or Administrative firewalls across select campus Operational Areas (DOA, WOA, and NOA).

Features

Clients are provided with their own load balancer partition on a shared F5 BIG-IP load balancer. Clients have the advantage of a professionally maintained load balancer service without the overhead and expense of doing it themselves.

  • Able to remove servers from pools for maintenance without affecting the availability of a service.
  • Distributes inbound traffic across multiple back-end destinations.
  • Able to act as a proxy from the Internet to local private addresses.

University staff.

Requirements

Servers must reside behind a University IT firewall.
