All Cisco WebEx application users — you, your hosts, and attendees — will be offered the new version of the WebEx solution when entering a session for the first time after the upgrade. You'll experience an improved look and feel, as well as several feature additions and enhancements.

What upgrades do you get with WBS 27.26FR?

Cisco WebEx Meeting Center

Accessibility — Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act defines requirements for product accessibility. In this release, new keyboard accessibility enhancements for attendees on Windows have been added.

High-Quality Video Enhancements

  • A new Full-Screen video button has been added to the Active Speaker video window and is visible when sharing content in full screen sharing mode.
  • The Full-Screen video button has been modified for improved access and ease of use.
  • Users should experience an improved video experience. Several significant enhancements have been made to the underlying video codec to improve error resiliency, network adaptation and congestion control.

Cisco TelePresence WebEx OneTouch Integration Enhancements — Several backend meeting privileges have modified to this integration for ease of use:

  • Meeting settings: If the meeting is scheduled with call-back teleconferencing, the call to connect WebEx and Cisco TelePresence will be allowed.
  • Site-level settings: If your site allows call-back from WebEx to Cisco TelePresence, the call to connect will be allowed regardless of the meeting settings.

Language Support — WebEx Meeting Center is now localized in three additional languages: European Spanish, Dutch and Russian. Localized audio prompts will also be provided for these new languages.

High-Quality Video — This release introduces a new high-quality video experience with the following features and functionality:

  • New higher resolution video: 360p resolution at up to 30 frames per second.
  • Full Screen video mode with an Active Speaker window and up to 5 video thumbnails. Additional video thumbnails can be viewed by scrolling.
  • Automatic Active Speaker switching.

  • Attendees can connect and switch webcams while in a training session with "camera hot plug-in".
  • Active Speaker functionality works with sites that have integrated audio (WebEx Audio and Telephony Service Partner audio). For sites without integrated audio, the Active Speaker functionality will follow the presenter's video.

The following cameras have been tested and work well with WebEx high-quality video: Cisco VT Camera II, Cisco VT Camera III, Tandberg Precision HD, Logitech Quick Cam Pro 9000, Logitech QuickCam Orbit AF, Logitech QuickCam C905, Logitech QuickCam S7500, Microsoft LifeCam HD, Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000, Microsoft LifeCam Cinema, Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000, Microsoft LifeCam NX-6000, Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000.

User Experience Enhancements — This release introduces several new user interface enhancements for a converged web, audio and video training experience. These include:

  • Quick Start Page — Actions such as inviting and reminding participants to join a training session, sharing your desktop/application, etc. have been consolidated for ease of use. The following items are now represented on the Quick Start page through three individual buttons:
    1. Join Audio Conference
    2. Invite & Remind participants
    3. Single sharing button for Desktop, Application or Document sharing
  • All secondary training action options are available after clicking one of the three buttons, such as send an email to invite attendees, select specific application to share, etc. This includes all original Quick Start feature and functions in WebEx Training Center.
  • The Quick Start Page is available only for Host and Panelists.
  • Participant Panel
    • Video has been incorporated into the Participant Panel above the participant list. Note that there is no longer a separate video panel.
    • Two new buttons, Send/Stop Video and Mute/Un-Mute Audio are displayed next to each participant in the participant list.
    • The video displayed at the top of the Participant Panel will automatically switch based on the Active Speaker.
    • Self video is displayed as picture in picture in the corner of Active Speaker window.
  • Floating Icon Tray
    • The Floating Icon Tray has been redesigned and enhanced with new icons and labels.
    • By default, the Floating Icon Tray will be docked at the top of the screen when in sharing mode. It can also be moved to the right or left as needed.
    • A Record button and an Audio button have been added.
    • When the Floating Icon Tray is hidden, notifications will fade in and out as the following events happen: chat message is received, recording is started.
  • Audio Dialog Box — Microphone and Speaker volume controls have been integrated into the audio dialog box when using VoIP.
  • Sharing Streaming Media Files — The process of sharing media files in a WebEx training session has been improved. Media files such as WMV, AVI and Flash can now be shared in real time.
