Virtual Reality Fitness: Unleashing the Power of VR for Physical Well-Being

This Virtual Reality Fitness class combines the immersive world of virtual reality with the benefits of physical exercise. Discover the thrilling potential of VR technology as we guide you through VR applications to enhance your fitness journey.

Course Objectives:

  • Introduction to VR Fitness: Understand the principles and concepts behind virtual reality fitness, exploring its origins, current trends, and future possibilities.
  • VR Equipment and Setup: Learn about the various types of VR equipment available, including headsets and controllers. 
  • VR Fitness Safety Guidelines: Understand the importance of safety in VR fitness and learn best practices to prevent discomfort, motion sickness, and other potential issues.
  • Immersive VR Fitness Experiences: Engage in exhilarating virtual reality fitness experiences, such as boxing, stretching, kayaking, and more, designed to challenge your body and mind.
  • VR Fitness Apps and Platforms: Discover a range of VR fitness apps and platforms that offer diverse workout programs, including cardio, strength training, yoga, and meditation.

By the end of this class, you will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to integrate virtual reality into your fitness routine, harnessing the power of technology to elevate your physical fitness and overall well-being.

Dong Liang

Dong Liang is currently the lead instructional designer for the Stanford University Technology Training Team. Dr. Liang holds a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering and a doctorate degree from the University of Chicago.

Don Cameron

Don is the Instructional Design lead in Technology Training, and has been at Stanford since 1998. He teaches collaboration and communication classes, along with courses on Google Apps, Smartsheet, and survey design.

Additionally, some of these programs are open to interested individuals not affiliated with Stanford, allowing for broader community engagement and learning opportunities.
