Slack: Key Competencies You Need to Know

New session times will be displayed below upon confirmation.

Slack is a powerful cloud-based set of team and organizational collaboration tools and services. It is a communication hub where the right people and the right information can come together in organized, searchable channels.  This workshop, taught by an expert from Slack, will provide participants with a practical overview of the features and functions available in Slack.

The workshop will explain, discuss and demonstrate how:

  • To use Slack to bring team and organizational communications together
  • Slack Channels can be divvied up by team, project, client, or specific topics that are relevant to your organization.
  • Team members can join and leave channels as needed — unlike lengthy email chains.
  • Communication threads can keep side conversations from derailing the topic or project at hand
  • Slack allows the sharing of channels with other companies, businesses and individuals that you may work with regularly – like clients, vendors, and partners – to bring all the right people into the same room.
  • To conduct voice or video calls directly from Slack and how you can share your screen when you need to show your work
  • Drag-and-drop PDFs, images, videos and other files directly into Slack. Get feedback on your work and create an archive of your progress.
  • Search everything that’s been posted in channels or your messages. Learn the context of past decisions or see if someone’s already solved the problem at hand.
  • Bring important information and alerts into relevant channels by connecting services like Zendesk, Salesforce, JIRA, and more with Slack — including your own proprietary software.
