Stanford Accounts Upgrade May 2025

On May 10, 2025, University IT (UIT) updated the Stanford Accounts application with a move from Java to the APEX platform. The functionality remains mostly the same, but the interface and some navigation are different. Explore comparison details on this page.
1 - General: Look and Feel
Upon launching the upgraded version of Stanford Accounts, you will notice that the interface features a new dashboard with tiles that organize everything you need on the main landing page.

2- Navigation
The upgraded version includes a new left-hand navigation panel, which makes it easy to navigate between the tiles. Click the hamburger menu to expand the details for the icons. The redesigned top menu combines access to StanfordYou, log out, and the “Help” drop-down menu to review helpful instructions or submit a Help request.

3- Create a New SUNet ID
In the upgraded version, the options for creating a new SUNet ID have been simplified as tabs under the “Create SUNet ID” tile. In addition, there is a new sponsorship email requirement. To set up a sponsored SunetID at base level, sponsees will need to provide a valid non-Stanford email address at the time of SUNetID creation.

4- Check Account Status
In the upgraded version, the “Status Checker” becomes the “Check Account Status” tile and is conveniently located on the new dashboard. There is also a “Check Account Status” button located within the “Create SUNet ID” tile to check the status of a pending account.

5- Password Management
In the upgraded version, the “Forgot Password” option has been regrouped with “Change Password” and “Change Password Reset Question” under the “Password Management” tile.

6- Email Management
In the upgraded version, the new "Email Management" tile is where you can manage your email aliases, manage your autoreply settings in Microsoft 365, and manage your email forwarding. Individuals with access to manage shared email accounts will also be able to manage them in the “Shared Email” tile.
Note: The Stanford Accounts legacy autoreply feature will be retired as part of this upgrade. Individuals with this feature enabled have been notified that they need to transition to using the vacation and out-of-office settings in their Stanford email (Microsoft 365 or Gmail) email accounts ahead of the upgrade. 7- Shared Email Management
In the upgraded version of Stanford Accounts, we've added an “Edit” button to easily manage your shared email forwarding.

8- Web Management
In the upgraded version, the new "Web Management" tile is where you can manage your Stanford web page and watch the Employee Information Security Awareness Video to complete your information security awareness training.

9- Two-Step Management
In the upgraded version, the new Two-Step Management tile is where you can learn about two-step authentication, manage your two-step device, and report a lost device.
