Previously, there was no common set of products for collaboration and communication across Stanford University, Stanford Health Care, and Stanford Medicine Children's Health.
Stanford Medicine is deeply invested in the Microsoft ecosystem. The affiliates agreed on a core set of Microsoft 365 applicaitions, which could be used across all of Stanford Medicine. To improve collaboration, the university deployed five new Microsoft 365 applications —Teams, SharePoint, Planner, Power BI, and WhiteBoard in January 2023. Along with the previously deployed applications — Exchange, Office, and One Drive — these make up the eight core Microsoft 365 applications shared between the university, the Stanford hospitals, and clinics. This initiative ensures that university and hospital colleagues can work together using a common set of tools within each of the Microsoft tenants, without the need to manage multiple IDs.
New features and enhancements are being released to further improve collaboration between the affiliates. On Oct. 5, 2024, Microsoft released a new version of the Teams client specifically designed for multi-tenant organizations (MTO). This new version improves many aspects of the guest experience functionality when working across multiple tenants. The ACT team is working to enable futher MTO soolutions within the various Microsoft 365 environments to make this experience even better.
