UIT Service Rate Changes for FY23

Monday, May 16, 2022

Beginning Sept. 1, 2022, rates for several technology services provided by University IT (UIT) will increase between 4% and 8%. The new rates will be reflected in the rates section of the UIT website. Until then, we encourage you to check this page about the fiscal year 2023 (FY23) changes to ensure that you have accurate service-level information.

Why are rates changing?

In today’s dynamic and competitive labor market, UIT is committed to attracting and retaining the most talented people to manage and support our technology services. This year’s rate increases are largely driven by the need to accommodate the university’s historically high salary program in support of our outstanding staff. Other factors influence UIT’s rates, including:

  • Advances in technology
  • Increasing technology labor market rates
  • Licensing and software subscription fees
  • Increased hardware costs due to chip shortages
  • Operational improvements, such as automation

To varying degrees, in some years these factors allow us to decrease certain rates, while in others, they drive increases. We recognize that this year’s increases may significantly impact your budget planning. We want to assure you that we remain committed to driving down costs, finding innovative solutions, and delivering services that empower you and the work you do at Stanford.
