Changes to Duo Two-Step Device Setup Coming Soon

Friday, December 8, 2023

Starting the evening of Jan. 18, 2024, Duo’s device management portal will move to Duo Central. This change is another step in support of Duo’s Universal Prompt, an updated authentication experience that uses newer and safer technologies.

Duo Central is part of Duo single sign-on where users can add, edit, or remove their authentication devices. There is no action needed, although the process for managing authentication devices will look different. It will no longer be embedded within the Stanford Accounts page.

When logged in to accounts.stanford.edu, the Two-Step tab is where the changes will occur. The current embedded Duo device management screen will be replaced with a link for Duo Central.

When clicked, the Stanford login page will appear. After logging in, Duo will prompt two authentication requests, one from Stanford IdP “Two-Step Required” and another from Duo Central. Both are required to access user devices within Duo Central. Once logged in, users can add, edit, or remove their authentication devices.
