What’s News With Stanford Mobile?

Did you see the news? The News section within the Stanford Mobile app, that is. Our most recent release brings a more accessible and unified view of all the latest news stories across Stanford, and an easy way to share them with others.

We’ve also enhanced Mobile ID functions, added a building safety feature integration, resolved bugs, made accessibility enhancements, and as always, created a more polished design and improved user experience for you.

Start spreading the news

The latest enhancements to Stanford Mobile’s News section allow you to consume the topics most important to you. 

Create your own customized news feed by selecting your favorite subject matter. If you’d rather see all of the latest stories across Stanford, simply select “Choose all.” 

With a newly designed interface, you can now browse and share articles without leaving the app. Simply swipe left on a news story to reveal the Share function. 

You can share each story using your mobile device's native sharing functions and features. The recipient does not need to have Stanford Mobile in order to receive the article link. 

Once you click on a news item, you’ll be transported to each individual news source to learn more.

Building a safer workplace

Our latest integration into the Stanford Mobile app enables users to discover health and safety protocols before ever leaving for campus. MyBuilding, a new web app built by Land, Buildings & Real Estate (LBRE), shows each Stanford building’s health features and safeguards, including:

• Signage indicating what activities are allowed inside and outside of that campus space 
• Cleaning frequency, and enhanced disinfection protocols, of common areas and high-touch surfaces
• Installation and location of hand sanitizing stations 
• Ventilation inspection and maintenance
• Air filtration optimization to provide the greatest Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) rating possible
• Routine plumbing inspections

Once you complete your Health Check through the app and are cleared to be onsite, the “Report your health status” button will change to “Review building safeguards,” which links to MyBuilding’s landing page. From there, you can search for the specific building you’re looking for.

Don’t forget that you now have expanded functionality with your Mobile ID, including door access to Stanford buildings without the need for a physical ID card. We’ve also improved Mobile Key invitation alerts and ID photo upload capabilities.
