Working in conjunction with Stanford users and the Stanford Data Visualization Community of Practice, Technology Training is pleased to offer a new series of Tableau Desktop training courses designed to help you leverage the full power of Tableau Desktop against use cases relevant to Stanford.
Prerequisite:
Completion of the Tableau Desktop Beginner course or equivalent Tableau Desktop experience.
This is the second course in the series and builds upon topics covered in the Tableau Desktop Beginner course. Additional topics include: creation of comparison charts, extraction of data for better performance, creation of customized fields, using data from multiple sources through joins and blends, thresholds, advanced filters, geographic mapping, and presentation of visualizations on a Dashboard.
At the end of this course, attendees will have a better understanding of multiple data connections, use of data extracts for better performance, create new fields and assemble multiple graphs on a dashboard with interactivity.

- Multiple measures in a View - Using Measure Names and Measure Values to create comparison charts
- Using Joins and Blends to provide data from different sources
- Customize Data - Create new calculated fields using some functions
- Table Calculations - Using predefined functions to update a visualization
- Reference Lines - Show thresholds for data points
- Bar in Bar and Bullet Chart - Advanced comparison charts
- Advanced filters - Using special filters like Relevant, Context and Rank filters
- Geo Maps - Create geographic maps to represent coordinates and aggregate multiple location for a custom territory
- Dashboard - Design of a dashboard, arrange multiple visualizations as per best practices and provide interactivity through dashboard actions
