Explore how to tell a story with AI video in OpenArt. Practice story structure, prompting, character, setting, shots, and SmartShot while building one short instructional video step by step alongside the instructor. No filmmaking experience needed.

Program Description

This hands-on workshop centers on one question: how do I tell my story with AI video? Participants will have the opportunity to work alongside the instructor to build one short instructional video with a consistent character and setting, moving from a message to a story outline, a character sheet, a setting, key frames, and a storyboard.

The storyboard is then brought to life with SmartShot, and the session closes with a screening of every video and a mini Gen Jam vote.

Along the way, participants explore how explainers and promos are built, how prompts and model choice work with help from the OpenArt agent, and how shot size, camera angle, camera movement, and light shape a scene. A starter library of prepared characters and settings is available, or participants can generate their own.

The workshop is designed for staff, faculty, and students who communicate research, teaching, programs, or services, and it starts at the foundations level, so no filmmaking or design experience is needed. Participants also look at how to apply the same workflow to their own work.
