Camera Techniques and Adobe Creative suite – Certification class

This class offers an option for in-classroom sessions. Participants attending an in-person class will need to adhere to the respiratory illness policies.

In this hands-on, project-based course, explore the full photography process, from advanced camera settings to final edits using Adobe Bridge, Lightroom Classic, and Photoshop. Capture scenes from prompts and follow a structured post-production workflow.

Program Description

Note: This is a hands-on course. Bring your camera (DSLR or mirrorless), accessories, and access to Adobe Creative Cloud. A USB or external storage device is required.

Designed for those ready to deepen their technical and creative photography skills, this course emphasizes decision-making at the point of capture and efficient, non-destructive editing after the shoot. It also includes a final assessment as part of the Digital Photography Proficiency Certification pathway.

Learning Objectives

Course Objectives

In this class, you will have the opportunity to:

- Capture photographs using advanced in-camera techniques suited for varying light and subject conditions.
- Use Adobe Bridge to organize, tag, and evaluate image sets through contact sheets and rating tools.
- Process selected images in Lightroom Classic using a non-destructive editing approach.
- Refine final edits in Photoshop using advanced adjustment and retouching tools.
- Develop and follow an end-to-end workflow from image capture to final output.

Camera Techniques

- Using aperture priority and exposure bracketing
- Adjusting white balance and manual focus
- Responding to instructor prompts through planned composition
- Lighting control for mood and contrast

Image Organization with Adobe Bridge

- Importing and previewing raw image files
- Creating contact sheets and rating selections
- Organizing assets for batch processing

Editing in Lightroom Classic

- Exposure adjustments and color balance
- Sharpening and noise reduction
- Applying global vs. local enhancements

Final Processing in Photoshop

- Detailed retouching and cleanup
- Blending and adjustment layers
- Preparing images for print or digital display
