Program Description

The Stanford Technology Training Program is launching a new certificate workshop designed to empower project managers to integrate artificial intelligence into their daily workflows. The AI-Powered Project Manager (PMAI) workshop will show attendees how to leverage AI to enhance productivity, make smarter, data-driven decisions, and deliver projects with greater efficiency, saving valuable time and money.

Program Cohorts Schedule:

  • 18 hours, held over three days (6 hours for the first two days, and 3 hours for the last day), and an additional three hours online.

This program is tailored for project managers, team leads, and program managers across all industries. The focus is on strategically applying AI-powered tools and techniques to optimize the management of any project.

The role of the project manager is evolving, and the ability to harness AI is becoming a critical competency. This workshop is for professionals who want to move beyond traditional methods and use cutting-edge technology to automate tasks, gain deeper insights from their project data, and ultimately drive better outcomes.

Learning Objectives

The curriculum has been specifically developed to provide both cutting edge and in-depth knowledge on AI applications in the enterprise environment:

- Gain a clear understanding of AI concepts to confidently select and implement the right tools for your team.
- Master the techniques of prompting to create more accurate project artifacts, forecast resource needs, and anticipate budget constraints.
- Build AI tools and dashboards that analyze project performance metrics, uncover trends, and make informed decisions that keep your projects on track.
- Discover AI workflows that automate routine tasks like creating status reports, summarizing meetings, and managing documentation, freeing you to focus on strategic leadership.
- Navigate the ethical considerations of using AI tools, including data privacy and algorithmic bias, to ensure responsible project leadership.

Topic Outline

The following workshop topics may be adjusted as needed to ensure participants receive the most current, relevant, and evidence-based knowledge. Because the field of AI is evolving rapidly—and many of the tools introduced in the workshop may have been released only in the past month or even the past week—this flexibility allows the program to incorporate the latest capabilities, best practices, and developments as they emerge.

Session 1: Getting Started with AI for Project Management
Session 2: The Foundation of AI Interaction: Prompting
Session 3: Custom GPTs for Project Management
Session 4: AI-Assisted Document Intelligence & Collaboration
Session 5: Extending AI Capabilities with Skills, Connectors and Extensions
Session 6: The Future-Ready PM: Agentic AI & Strategic Integration

Prerequisites

Participants must bring a laptop to all in-person training sessions.
