After Effects Magic: Motion Graphics and Video Production

After Effects is used in major motion pictures, television shows, and nearly every part of media and entertainment. In this class, you will have the opportunity to learn the best practices for designing motion graphics and video production with AE.

Prerequisites:

  • Able to use Mac or PC
  • Have a current version of the Creative Cloud installed 2021 or newer Adobe After Effects downloaded on your computer. The trial version is available at https://www.adobe.com/products/aftereffects/free-trial-download.html.
  • Basic computing skills: copying/pasting, right-clicking (contextual menus), finding files, and access to the Internet.

After Effects has a diverse set of tools to create unbelievable visual effects, impressive compositing (i.e., bringing two or more picture elements together to make a single image), text and image animation, impressive graphics, and detailed color correction to enhance scenes in the post-production process.

In this dynamic introductory course, you will delve into the world of Adobe After Effects, exploring the art of rotoscoping, animation, and visual storytelling. You'll embark on a creative journey to build an infographic scene that conveys your ideas with animation and text, enhancing your presentation skills with captivating visual content.

Objectives: 

Learn best practices of mocking up an introduction and infographic sequence, with masking and rotoscoping video elements to bring that professional appeal to your work. You will have the opportunity to create artwork from scratch or rethink existing art from Photoshop or Illustrator files with motion design in mind. We will build an infographic scene to express your ideas with animation and text to make your presentations more visual and entertaining.

Upon completing this course, you will have had the opportunity to:

  • Master the art of importing visual assets and media.
  • Acquire essential skills in layer management and animation.
  • Create compelling motion graphics, shape animations, and effects.

  • Import seamlessly from Premiere Pro timelines.
  • Work with masking and transparency to enhance visual impact.
  • Keyframe your layers to synchronize with your project's timing.
  • Discover when and how to pre-compose layers as a single unit.
  • Create captivating shape and text animations.
  • Use various effects to add depth and character to your animations.
  • Apply special effects to pre-compositions (nests).
  • Seamlessly export your projects to Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Learn the essentials of rendering your final projects.
