Using software to access the Directory service

Actually accessing the Directory service is of course the end result most people want to achieve.  Stanford supports and distributes the Stanford::Directory Perl module.  Other known alternatives include Python-ldap,  PHP, JNDI (for Java), and the OpenLDAP client binaries (via shell scripts).
