Stanford Enterprise Vercel Is Coming Soon, With Connections to Claude and ChatGPT

Get ready to take what you build with AI to the next level.

Later this fall, University IT (UIT) is launching Stanford Enterprise Vercel, a cloud platform for building, deploying, and hosting fast web applications and microsites without managing servers. At launch, Claude for Education and OpenAI ChatGPT Edu will connect to the platform so you can publish with a simple request. Standard accounts will be free to active Stanford faculty, students, postdocs, and staff.

What you'll be able to do

With the Vercel connector in Claude and ChatGPT, you can:

  • Ask Claude or ChatGPT to build a site from your content, then review it to make sure it meets Stanford's minimum web standards.
  • Type "publish it on Vercel," answer a few quick questions, and let the connector handle the setup.
  • Update your site by telling Claude or ChatGPT what you want changed.
  • Focus on your content, not on registering a host, spinning up an instance, or configuring a content management system.

Sites are published behind Stanford single sign-on (SSO) by default, so your content stays within the Stanford community. If your site needs to be made public, you'll be able to request it.

Why a Stanford enterprise account?

Many people at Stanford already use Vercel. An enterprise account means you'll get:

  • Coverage under Stanford's agreement with Vercel, so you don't have to pay out of pocket or sign up with a personal account
  • SSO protection by default for the sites you publish
  • Approval for use with high-risk data
  • Support from UIT if something goes wrong

What's next?

We're launching standard accounts first. Premium accounts, a paid option with direct access to the Vercel platform and more features, will follow in a future release.

Stay tuned for details

As the enterprise Vercel service launches, we'll share more details, including a service home page and a how-to guide for using Vercel with Claude and ChatGPT. Look for updates on the University IT AI website and in the UIT newsletter in the weeks ahead.

If you or your team already host sites on Vercel and want to move them to the Stanford enterprise account, we can help you. A request form will be available soon.
