Protect Your Devices this Holiday Season

Monday, December 12, 2022

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. But you know what would really put a damper on the holidays? Getting your devices stolen.

HO HO Oh no….

The holiday season is also smash-and-grab season. Having a device stolen from your vehicle is a headache and can result in a potential security threat.

Our gift to you is a gentle reminder not to store laptops and other electronic devices in your vehicle. Research shows that even if you conceal your computer in a trunk, grinches use Bluetooth scanners to search for connected phones and laptops.

So here are a few tips to keep your devices safe:

  • Put away charging cables.
  • Shopping? Leave your laptop at home or bring your devices with you.
  • Ensure your car is locked.

What to do if your device is stolen

If your electronic devices are stolen, don’t wait––contact the police, privacy office, and mobile carrier as soon as possible. If your Stanford mobile device is stolen, follow the instructions provided by Stanford Mobile Services
