Jabber, Voicemail, and Phone Number Spring Clean-Up
Did you know there’s a successful housekeeping effort taking place behind the scenes in University IT (UIT)? And we don’t mean a simple dusting.
Since November 2022, UIT has been conducting a detailed clean-up effort on non-active telephone, Jabber (softphone), and voicemail accounts for individuals no longer at Stanford or not associated with any active users.
The initial clean-up will conclude in June, but the process of performing this regular backend maintenance will become a permanent operation to keep Stanford's communication systems squeaky clean going forward. This effort improves quality control and reduces licensing costs by eliminating the following items that are no longer in use:
- voicemail boxes
- handsets
- phone numbers
In case of a soap-rise issue
Maintenance is conducted after hours and is not expected to impact your service. However, if you experience a service interruption or have questions, please contact the UIT Service Desk at (650) 725-4357 (5-HELP) or submit a Help request.
