Cardinal Key Now Works with Firefox

Monday, February 10, 2020

Cardinal Key, a passwordless login mechanism for simpler and safer computing, now works with Firefox. Because Cardinal Key lets you skip the Stanford login page, it saves you time every day, while also protecting your account from phishing attacks.

What do I need to do to use Cardinal Key with Firefox?

For Windows 10, upgrade to Firefox version 72 or later, then follow the Firefox instructions on the Install a Cardinal Key on Windows webpage. If you already have a Cardinal Key installed on that computer, you only need to enable it in Firefox.

For macOS 10.11 or later, upgrade to Firefox version 72 or later, then follow the Firefox instructions on the Install a Cardinal Key on Mac webpage. If you already have a Cardinal Key installed on that computer, you only need to enable it in Firefox. The instructions include steps for manually installing a special file onto your Mac. These extra steps will not be necessary for future versions of Firefox.
