Project Plan/WBS

Overview

The project plan is used to collect information about the status, progress, and overall health of the project. A project plan can be built using either the WBS Template, which is a full-featured template that provides all the columns required for successful UIT Project Dashboard generation as well as a full set of suggested tasks, or the Project Plan Template, which also contains the required columns but provides a minimal number of project tasks. Both templates can be found in the UIT PMO Templates workspace (opens in a new window) in Smartsheet.

Details

UIT Project Managers only can follow this link for detailed instructions on how to create the Smartsheet project plan using the template and ensure that formatting supports display of critical project information on the UIT Project Dashboard. The project plan must be updated frequently for the duration of the project. For further help devising project phases and key tasks to be used in the WBS/Project Plan, see this example.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: All projects involving a user interface must ensure accessibility by those with disabilities. UIT standard practice is compliance with WCAG 2.0, Level AA. For more information, see the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Overview website. Project Managers can coordinate with the development lead and ET QA Director to identify and add the necessary accessibility related project tasks to the project plan.
