A Smoother Way to Connect with SHC ServiceNow

There’s exciting news for those in the School of Medicine and certain other units who use the Stanford Medicine Health Care (SHC) ServiceNow portal (AskSHC).

  • Starting June 28, 2024, you’ll simply log in with your SUNet ID and password — instead of the SHC ID you use today.
  • Please note, with the change, you’ll no longer be able to use your hospital ID to access the SHC ServiceNow platform—even when you are in the hospital.

How to access the ServiceNow portal (AskSHC)

After navigating to the URL, enter your SUNetID@stanford.edu on the new sign-in screen.

Next,  authenticate with your SUNet ID and password and single sign-on process. You may need to complete the Duo prompt if you haven't done so recently, as you normally do for Stanford University web applications. To learn more, review these step-by-step instructions.

Should you inadvertently enter your hospital ID, you’ll get an error message letting you know you’ve used an incorrect ID and asking you to try again.

Streamlining your digital experience

Juggling multiple identities to access services across Stanford Medicine has often been a source of frustration and confusion. We’re thrilled to share the news about an improved authentication process for SHC ServiceNow as a first step in an ongoing effort to enhance the digital experience for the Stanford Medicine community.

As part of the Affiliated Collaboration Transformation (ACT) project, look for the rollout of more tools and processes that will support the use of a single home identity to access services across Stanford Medicine.
