Where can I find free software distributed by University IT?
A wide selection of desktop software and web apps are available on the University IT Essential Stanford Software (ESS) website. This software is free for Stanford students, faculty, and staff.
The ESS website is a central repository of free software and apps that help you access university computing services safely and securely. It includes document management apps such as Box and Google Drive, security software such as BigFix and Stanford Anti-Malware, video conferencing tools such as Zoom and WebEx, and much more.
Use the site’s sorting feature to quickly find what you are looking for. New software and apps are added and updated frequently so check back often.
Beyond ESS
If you are looking for software beyond what’s included on the ESS site, check out the Software at Stanford site for comprehensive information about software available for use or purchase on campus.
