Simplify Logins with Cardinal Key and Dashlane

Friday, June 12, 2020

COVID-19 is changing the way we operate. More than ever before, we’re using online services for collaboration, shopping, banking, and entertainment. So now is the best time to begin using Cardinal Key and a password manager to simplify your life.

  • Cardinal Key eliminates the need to use your username and password for web-based logins to Stanford services. For VPN connections, Cardinal Key also eliminates the two-step authentication requirement. Cardinal Key is available to all faculty, staff, and students, and is currently supported on all platforms except Linux and Android.
  • Dashlane password manager is a tool that remembers your passwords for you. It instantly logs you into the websites that you use daily and helps you populate common information for online forms. Stanford provides Dashlane for free to all current faculty, staff, and students.

Protect yourself from cyber threats

Fraudulent websites are common, and scammers are actively taking advantage of anxieties generated by the pandemic. So please be particularly vigilant for phishing scams purporting to offer information or services relevant to COVID-19.

Multiple Stanford accounts are compromised daily as a result of phishing and fraudulent websites. Password managers and Cardinal Key help protect you from falling prey to these cyber threats.

The Dashlane password manager also includes a feature called Dark Web Monitoring that notifies you if your login credentials are somehow compromised.
