Outbound Email Delays

Monday, November 12, 2018

11:00 AM: University IT engineers have isolated the problem to a specific part of Stanford's email infrastructure and have implemented a fix.  Outbound email — including emails that were queued during the delay — are starting to flow normally.  It will take an hour or two for the backlog to clear.  Engineers will continue to monitor the service to ensure it remains stable.

If you continue to experiencing any issues with your email, please submit a help request or contact our Service Desk at 650.725.HELP.

10:30 AM University IT is continuing to isolate the issue. There is currently no estimate for return to normal service.  Outbound email is going through, but with delay.  Update to follow.

10:00 AM University IT is continuing to isolate the issue.  Stanford is currently seeing delays for outgoing mail of about 30 minutes.

9:30 AM: Stanford is currently experiencing delays with outbound emails (i.e., emails being sent from a Stanford account). This includes emails sent through a mailing list and Stanford's email to pager service. Inbound emails from non-Stanford accounts are being received without delay. University IT is currently investigating the issue and will provide updates when available.
