Axess Update: Student Enrollment for Winter Quarter

As we approach the Dec. 1 Winter Quarter enrollment date, we want to share an update about the work we’ve been doing to improve the class enrollment experience for our students. 

University IT and the University Registrar’s Office have been working closely together on a new standalone web application that removes dependency on the Axess portal. This decoupling addresses the performance issues related to the vendor-provided Axess portal technology that caused enrollment outages earlier this fall. 

Our new web application, which will launch on Nov. 28, delivers the SimpleEnroll experience outside of Axess. This standalone SimpleEnroll site provides a direct pathway for students to register for classes and bypasses the need to log into Axess. 

We’ve thoroughly tested the performance of SimpleEnroll and are confident in its robust performance. In terms of student experience, SimpleEnroll will look and behave like it currently does, but will live outside of Axess.

Our efforts to improve the user experience, features, and functionality of SimpleEnroll will continue through 2023. We also continue to work in parallel with the Axess vendor to improve its performance in areas beyond enrollment. 

We appreciate your patience, engagement, and understanding as we move toward a better enrollment experience for our students.
