Project Management for IT Projects

Project management as a service for campus-wide IT projects

In September 2024, rates will change for several technology services provided by University IT. View proposed FY25 rate changes.

Business units can receive IT project management guidance and support from an assigned UIT Project Manager (PM). A UIT PM is responsible for overseeing the entire project management lifecycle, encompassing initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and closure. The UIT PM takes an independent leadership role in directing projects that require a high level of functional integration, involving the coordination of multiple teams and stakeholders. Examples of project types include vendor selection and implementation, SaaS projects, development, and application upgrades.

  • End-to-end management and overall success of the project, such as creating a project plan, connecting the dots between product, process and people, tracking the completion status of items, facilitating planning/review meetings, and proactively managing project issues, risks, and decisions.
  • Directing action plan development and requirements estimation for resources, including management, labor, materials, and time required to complete projects.
  • Development and execution of comprehensive change management strategy and communication plan relative to project scope and stakeholders.
  • And more.
