Mobile Network Infrastructure Services

Manages and design services that maintain and improve indoor/outdoor cellular coverage

The Mobile Infrastructure Team manages cellular coverage across all Stanford campuses and hospitals, ensuring dependable and quality mobile connectivity for faculty, staff, students, patients, and visitors. We design, maintain, and optimize mobile network systems to provide strong, consistent voice and data service throughout indoor and outdoor areas. Our team monitors signal strength and overall network performance, addressing coverage gaps as they arise. Through close coordination with major wireless carriers and technology vendors, we support ongoing enhancements and implement solutions that meet the growing demand for reliable mobile connectivity across Stanford.

The Mobile Infrastructure Team provides consultation, assessment, and solutions for cellular coverage, private cellular networks, and cellular performance and system monitoring, ensuring reliable, high-quality connectivity across Stanford campuses and hospitals.

Core services

Indoor cellular coverage
  • Building-Specific Solutions: Mobile Network Infrastructure designs, implements, and manages cellular signal strength in critical campus buildings, classrooms, and other high-traffic areas.
  • Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS): For larger or more complex structures, the team deploys and manage DAS networks to ensure seamless, high-quality cellular coverage across entire buildings, keeping you connected in every corner.
Outdoor cellular coverage
  • Campus-Wide Coverage: Extend and enhance cellular coverage across quads, athletic fields, and parking structures to ensure reliable connectivity.
  • Wireless Carrier Coordination: Collaborate with wireless carriers to optimize outdoor networks and support growing mobile data and voice demand.
Private cellular network
  • Secure and Resilient Connectivity: Provide private cellular networks for critical campus infrastructure.
  • Private 5G Network: Build a campus-wide private 5G network to support secure communications for vital services, such as 911 blue towers, and enhance overall campus connectivity.
Cellular performance and system monitoring
  • Real-Time Performance Tracking: Monitor 3G, 4G, and 5G networks indoors and outdoors, providing a real-time performance map to ensure optimal service.
  • System Monitoring: Maintain all network systems efficiently with continuous monitoring and real-time updates.
