Stanford University suspends operations, where feasible, during the winter holiday season, from 5 p.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2016, through Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Accordingly, many University IT offices will be closed or provide limited support during winter closure. UIT offices will resume full support on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at 8 a.m.
This is the schedule for UIT Residential Services before and during winter closure.
Placing orders
Plan ahead if you need an order completed before winter closure:
- Residential network, cable television, and telephone orders must be submitted by Monday, December 12, 2016 to be completed before winter closure.
- Equipment pickup requests must be submitted by Friday, December 16 to be completed before winter closure.
Requests received after these dates but before winter closure will be processed on a best-effort basis, but may not be processed until the university re-opens on January 4. Requests submitted during winter closure will not be processed until after January 4.
Picking up equipment
There will be limited equipment pickup available (on a case by case basis) after 5:00 p.m. on December 16 through 8:00 a.m., January 4. If you will be moving in during winter closure and you will not be on campus by December 16, you must:
- Arrange to have someone pick up your equipment for you by December 16, or
- Make an appointment (before winter closure) with the IT Service Desk to pick up your equipment at Forsythe Hall between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday on non-holiday days only, or
- Order your service to start on or after January 4.
Dropping off equipment
Residential clients who cancel service during winter closure can drop off their equipment at the Welch Road or Stanford West leasing offices, or make an appointment to drop off equipment with the Service Desk at Forsythe Hall by calling 650-725-4357.
Reporting system outages and requesting repairs
During winter closure, help is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for system outages and repair issues. Call 650-725-HELP (4357).
