Vision: Research Computing

We will enhance and expand services to meet the ever-changing research and scholarship technology support needs of Stanford.  Key goals are to reduce or eliminate the barriers to using technology tools for research and to increase the relevance of support and service offerings across a broader range of research areas.

Key areas of focus over the next several years include the following:

  1. Facilitate data sharing and team science via provision and support of multiple tools (for example, Globus), training, performance analysis and expansion of the Stanford Research Network.
  2. Expand of research storage options that are scalable, supportable, performant, and aligned with the realities of research funding.
  3. Continued enhancement of capabilities, consulting services and training around HPC, especially but not exclusively focused on the campus-wide shared compute environments, Sherlock and Farmshare.
