Successful Platform Upgrade for Paging Services

Monday, June 1, 2015

University IT just completed an upgrade to the Paging Services platform, which is based on technologies provided by Spok Inc. (formerly known as Amcom). This upgrade included configuring 17 new servers as well as deploying more than 40 new desktop workstations. Paging Services provides paging and messaging service to approximately 9,000 users, many of whom provide patient care through Stanford Medicine.

The planning for this project started in November 2014 and required coordination between Stanford University, Stanford Health Care, and Stanford Children’s Health, as each organization has complex integrations between their medical systems and the Paging Services platform.

Everything went according to plan, and there was no negative impact to patient care or general campus safety. The Stanford community that uses Paging Services will now benefit from a more secure, efficient, and robust infrastructure.
