New Student Reporting System to Debut

Monday, February 2, 2015

As part of an effort to streamline and modernize business reporting and data analysis at Stanford, University IT is collaborating with the Office of Institutional Research and Decision Support (IR&DS) on a new reporting system to facilitate student-related data reporting and analysis on campus.

Known formally as the Student Integrated Reporting and Information System (SIRIS) project, the new system will provide users with a full range of reporting and ad-hoc query tools for a wide variety of student data in areas such as demographics, financial aid, degree progress, coursework, academic preparation, post-graduation activities, etc.

The new system will be implemented in phases in Stanford’s Oracle Business Intelligence (OBI) reporting environment. The first phase of this multiyear effort will focus on enrolled student data and building the infrastructure framework for the reporting platform. Subsequent phases will introduce more reporting areas over time, including course data, admissions, and student survey information.

Development and testing on the first phase of the project wrapped up in December 2014, and the system is currently in pilot with a select group of users from the IR&DS. The system will be rolled out to the campus community in early Spring 2015.
