Areas of Expertise

Infrastructure Project Execution and Build-Out

This area represents the core of the team's role in project execution, where they transform infrastructure designs and plans into tangible, operational assets. They are responsible for the precise, standards-compliant installation of network components in both new construction projects and existing building renovations.

Hardware Installation: Physical deployment of network hardware, including data switches, wireless access points, card readers for access control, VoIP handsets, and equipment in network closets and data centers.

Challenging Environment Expertise: A key differentiator is their skill in performing installations in difficult and secure locations such as active construction sites, above ceilings, in crawlspaces, and within high-density, elevated cabinets.

Lifecycle Management and Operational Support

Beyond initial installation, I&M partners with Facilities Engineering (FE), Networking Engineering, Communication Technologies (CT), and Technical Facilities (TFAC) on the ongoing health and reliability of the physical infrastructure, by providing both proactive and reactive support to ensure operational continuity.

24x7 Emergency Break/Fix Support: Providing around-the-clock emergency oncall response to resolve physical network outages, including repairing cut cables, replacing failed hardware, or troubleshooting connectivity failures to restore critical services.

Routine Maintenance: Performing scheduled maintenance to uphold the integrity of the infrastructure, which can include tasks like re-terminating connections, auditing the services delivered over cable pathways/conduit that the FE team manages, and ensuring network closets remain compliant with university standards.

Specialized Technical Services and Diagnostics

This area highlights the team's deep technical expertise, which allows them to solve problems and provide insights that commodity contractors cannot.

Infrastructure Testing and Site Surveys: Conducting physical layer testing to certify new installations, validate signal integrity, and performing site surveys (e.g., for wireless network planning) to ensure optimal hardware placement and performance.

Advanced Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Utilizing specialized test equipment and deep institutional knowledge to identify and resolve complex physical layer issues, such as signal degradation, cross-talk, interference, or intermittent connectivity problems.

Event and Temporary Solutions

This service showcases the team's flexibility and ability to meet short-term or non-standard campus needs.

Athletics Support: Provide Coaches Comm support (home and away), provide game day support (press box, visitor sideline, tailgating area, frequency coordination).

Custom and Temporary Deployments: Leveraging their expertise and equipment to deploy temporary infrastructure and connectivity solutions (such as wi-fi) for special events, conferences, or interim operational needs until a permanent solution can be implemented.
