How to Open an Incognito Window
Opening a private or incognito window provides a temporary, clean browsing session that doesn't use your existing cookies or cache. The instructions for opening one vary depending on your web browser.
On desktop
Google Chrome
- Shortcut: Press Ctrl + Shift + N (Windows, Linux, Chrome OS) or ⌘ + Shift + N (Mac).
- Menu: Click the three-dots menu in the top-right corner and select New Incognito window.
Firefox
- Shortcut: Press Ctrl + Shift + P (Windows) or ⌘ + Shift + P (Mac).
- Menu: Click the three-lines menu in the top-right corner and select New Private Window.
Safari
- Shortcut: Press Shift + ⌘ + N.
- Menu: Go to File > New Private Window in the top-left menu bar.
Microsoft Edge
- Shortcut: Press Ctrl + Shift + N.
- Menu: Click the three-dots menu in the top-right and select New InPrivate window.
On mobile
Google Chrome (Android and iPhone): Tap the three-dots menu and select New Incognito tab.
Firefox (Android): Tap the three-dots menu and select New Private Tab.
Safari (iPhone): Tap the tabs button. Tap the (number)Tabs or Start Page button at the bottom. Select Private.
