Stanford Communicators' Toolkit

Now that the Campus IT Plan is live, your help is needed to ensure the Stanford community knows about it and understands how it can help them learn about IT efforts across the university.

To help you with this, we compiled some resources that you can use to communicate with the faculty, students and staff in your area. Our hope is that you would use these resources to send an organization-wide email about the plan's launch, publish an article in your unit’s internal newsletter or other channels, or talk about it wherever it seems appropriate to you

Resources

  1. Campus IT Plan Information Page: Use this page to get your questions answered about the Campus IT Plan and learn how to communicate about it in your area.
  2. Talking points: A bulleted list of “talking points” geared towards the Stanford community. These talking points can be used in emails, formal or informal presentations, intranet postings, social media posts, Slack messages and more. They are grouped into five themes in an easy, grab-and-go style.
  3. Sample email: Use this email verbatim or modify it to your liking to announce the launch of the Campus IT Plan broadly throughout your organization.
  4. Sample news article: Publish this article in your unit's internal newsletter or other communication channels. Use it verbatim or modify it to your liking. The article template includes placeholders for you to enter information specific to your unit.
  5. Sample presentation (FYI only): These slides were provided to IT community leaders to communicate about the Campus IT Plan in team and organization-wide meetings. We are making it available to you as an FYI only, to provide more detail and information about the Campus IT Plan.
  6. Communications tracker: Use this spreadsheet to record your efforts in sharing the Campus IT Plan. This will help us track where, when and how the message is being communicated across campus.
